The club “Geher” is oriented at organizing leisure for middle age people. The activities of the club include conducting cultural-educational, sports and religious events, festive parties, lectures and seminars on the history and traditions of the Jewish nation, various courses and sessions. The club opened its doors in February 2002. From then on the club had vastly expanded the scope of its activities and had attracted a great number of people. There have emerged units of the “Gesher” club in Kaunas and Šiauliai which have tight and friendly relations with the Vilnius club. A not less productive cooperation is held with various international clubs. The doors of the club are always open for each and every one wishing to be attached to the Jewish culture and traditions as well as those who are interested in spending their leisure time in a circle of their true sole-mates. The club “Gesher“ being a multi-sphere leisure centre performs a great variety of activities: • Once a week on Fridays members of the club gather together to celebrate Shabbat and have the visitors of the club actively take part in the celebration too. • Once a month there are lectures on Judaism, psychology, sociology etc. • Various meetings with public and political actors, scientists and artists are organized. • There are regular common goings to theaters, museums, excursions, outdoor excursion etc. The activities of the club are directed not only at attaching the people to the cultural and spiritual values of the Jewish nation but also at providing very specific help to people striving to elevate their artistic, intellectual and physical capacities.
Within the purpose of the “Gesher” club the following courses and activities are organized:
English language courses; Hebrew language courses; Computer course; Choreography activities which include popular Israeli and Jewish Fold dances; Sports activities (swimming pool, football, basketball, yoga).
One of the main aims of the club is creating warm family-like atmosphere, allowing every one to feel relieved of their every day chores and problems. The people who come here not only find an activity close to their heart but also gain friends and sole-mates.
