| | LECH-LECHA PROJECT | 2006.03.19 | On March 19, 2006 the Jewish Community of Lithuania together with the Sholom Aleichem Jewish secondary school have organized a presentation of the yearly project “Lech-Lecha” (“Lech-Lecha” – the title of a weekly Torah portion, telling about the creation of a Jew – a person able to comprehend the wisdom of Torah and live in accordance with its law). The audience was given the “Simcha” show during the presentation and the deputy chairman the Jewish Community of Lithuania M. Grodnikienė, the executive director of the Jewish Community of Lithuania S. Gurevičius as well as the coordinator of the “Sunday Lectorium” F. Zimanienė and the director of the secondary school M. Jacobas addressed the children with warm words. | |

Bidding farewell to one's school, classmates and teachers is a memorable and somewhat sad celebration. | |
| | THE SHOLOM ALEICHEM JEWISH SECONDARY SCHOOL | 2004.01.28 | The Shalom Aleichem secondary school was established in October 1989. It is the only State Jewish school in Lithuania. Nowerdays in our school there are 200 students aged from 7 to 18 years old. This year the oldest students are in the 10th form, next year they will be in the 11th form. The main subjects are taught in Lithuanian, The Jewish subjects consist of Jewish language, Jewish history, Jewish traditions and religion. All the Jewish religious holidays are celebrated in school. The school has been given the possibility to work, according to the Jewish holidays calendar. English language is taught intensively in the school. |
